Lax is a web developer, Open Source enthusiast, and lover of all things WordPress. He is currently working as a backend engineer at WebDevStudios.

Lax has been tinkering with websites since high school, but it all changed when he discovered WordPress in 2010. When unplugged, he reads a lot and enjoys traveling around the Philippines.

1. Advanced Custom Fields

I use ACF and ACF Pro for most of the WP projects. It helps me create custom fields, taxonomies, and options pages. I use ACF over other plugins because it is the most common plugin, and it is compatible with other plugins. ACF makes it easier for coders and non-coders to create, display, and customize the fields.

2. Query Monitor

I use Query Monitor to check for issues with other plugins or theme codes. It helps me find and improve the performance of the site. It is a free plugin and is widely used by many developers. Query Monitor is a handy tool whether you are a beginner or an expert.

You can use it for debugging full site editing, block themes, AJAX calls, REST API, and anything in WP.

3. Yoast SEO

Yoast SEO makes search engine optimization easier. It does a lot of heavy lifting behind the scenes. It also allows you to customize via the graphical user interface and code.

You can use Yoast SEO for building headless WP applications too. I’ve also used premium versions and add-ons, their support is excellent, and pricing is reasonable.

4. WP Search With Algolia

Algolia is a powerful search tool. It helps me to decouple search from WP and use it extensively and elegantly. You can search, filter and sort by custom fields, taxonomies and post types.

With this plugin, Algolia integration is just a few clicks away. The best part is it works with multisite networks too. You can also use it with WooCommerce via the pro version. Their documentation and customer support are great.

5. WP All Import

WP all Import plugin is a must-have for exporting and importing content. The customization and scheduling features make the plugin better than the other plugins in this category.

I use this plugin to export posts, custom post types, taxonomies, users, user meta and post meta, and download external images. If you plan to buy this plugin for your work or agency, consider buying the export and import bundle.
